A film – A Tale - A True Story –
An epic journey of a man that changed the world of wine forever
.

André - The Voice of Wine is a feature-length documentary that takes us on a dramatic, illuminating, poetic, and wondrous cinematic journey from Russia through Europe to America as we embrace the story of this man, André Tchelistcheff, who devoted his life to the ancient craft of winemaking.   The remarkable tale of a Russian Aristocrat through whose eyes we experience life in Imperial Russia to the upheaval of the revolution where he fought as a Lieutenant in the White Army, on to his years working in France at such places as Moet & Chandon and at the Pasteur Institute in Paris.   From here the film unfolds the beginning of André's journey to the New World.  From his early days in Napa Valley, a life of tragedy and success against the worst odds revealing the inner strength of this modest man whose uncompromising passion pervaded his entire being and who helped move the American wine industry from a virtually moribund state after the repeal of Prohibition on to its renaissance in the second half of the twentieth century.  He was not a businessman, but an artist and scientist whose heart and soul were devoted to wine.  His philosophy about life and his love for wine influenced generations of wine makers, producers and wine lovers throughout the world.

The story will be told through André's own voice and the voices of those who knew him best from the vineyards of California to the beauty of the French wine growing regions to the shores of Tuscany with interviews with some of the most important wine makers including Christian Mouiex, Michel Lafarge, Warren Winiarski, Miljenko Grgich, Marchese Ludovico Antinori, Count Gelasio Gaetani D'Aragona Lovatelli, Michael Salacci, Greg Lafollette, Robert Mondavi and Francis Ford Coppola among others.  This is the feature directorial debut of Mark Tchelistcheff, the grand nephew of André, who has produced such notable films such as "Conversations with Other Women" with Helena Bonham Carter and Aaron Eckhart.  With original music by the renowned composer Alexei Aigui and including cinematography by Wedigo von Schultzendorf known for his work on such films as "Hollywood Ending" by Woody Allen.
